In recent years, the Federal Government and the State of Michigan have enacted a series of laws affecting professional licensure requirements and laws designed to ensure the safety of dental health care professionals and their patients. Performance Plus has made a commitment to educating and aiding practices to understand and comply with the following requirements:
Licensing and Certification Renewal Requirements
The State of Michigan Board of Dentistry requires:
- Dentists: not less than 60 hours of continuing education
- Hygienists: not less than 36 hours of continuing education
- Registered Assistants: not less than 36 hours of continuing education
- All licensed professionals must have a current certification in CPR
- All assistants must successfully complete a dental radiography course
The Dental Assisting National Board requires:
- Not less than 12 credit hours per year
- All certified assistants must have a current certification in CPR
OSHA/ HIPPA:
These regulations have placed many practices in the challenging position of having to meet numerous Exposure Control Protocol, Hazard Communication and Medical Waste Management requirements. At Performance Plus we understand this challenge and have designed a consultation service that assists your office in ensuring that necessary measures are taken to establish compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, and the Michigan Department of Public Health. |
